The Centre is one of two, Tier-1, High Performance Computing facilities in Australia, whose primary function is to accelerate scientific research through technology, expertise and collaboration for the benefit of the nation. Pawsey is currently serving over 80 organisations and achieving unprecedented results, in domains such as astronomy, energy and resources, engineering, bioinformatics and health sciences.
The Centre is focused on providing integrated research solutions by giving users simultaneous access to world class expertise and infrastructure in in supercomputing, cloud services, and data-intensive analysis, storage and visualisation services.
In 2018 the Australian Government awarded $70 million to upgrade Pawsey’s supercomputing infrastructure. The Pawsey upgrade, as a major part of the national HPC infrastructure, is ensuring Australia continues to enable computationally-intense research.
