Authentication

Social logins

  • Social logins may appear either above (if they are the preferred method) or below (if creating a service-specific login is preferred) the regular login form on the sign up page
  • Text or a label should indicate that this is a binary choice with only one login allowed per user (usually dictated by only one account per email)
  • Social login buttons should be clearly associated with their respective brand if not using the provided button
  • Social sign-ins should be performed in pop-up windows

Federated access (Australian Access Federation, AAF)

  • Allowing authentication via the Australian Access Federation (AAF) will enable users of AAF-subscribed organisations to login using their home institution’s credentials
  • The AAF has provided a button to encourage a consistent AAF implementation across Service Providers (logo files available here: http://www.aaf.edu.au/about/documents-and-reports/)
