APO joins AeRO

The Australasian eResearch Organisations (AeRO) is very excited to announce that Australian Policy Online (APO) is joining AeRO as an Associate Member.

APO is a significant national-scale eResearch capability for the Australasian research community. It is a research database and alert service providing free access to full text research reports and papers, statistics and other resources essential for public policy development and implementation in Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

AeRO membership places APO amongst the forefront of eResearch service providers in Australasia. It will be able to engage, participate in and influence the directions of collective activities towards a national seamless eResearch capability and infrastructure. This step will help APO with delivering new, better-supported and more integrated eResearch services to its research users.

As part of APO’s membership of AeRO, AeRO will become a member of APO, and the two have started working together on a dedicated eResearch and research infrastructure collection within the APO framework. This is now accessible at http://apo.org.au/collections/eresearch – contributions and other pointers are very welcome, and will help to grow the value of this national collection.

APO’s Research and Strategy Manager, Amanda Lawrence, said “Since APO’s establishment in 2002, it has become an important national digital resource, part of the eResearch landscape. Joining AeRO enables us to coordinate and integrate more closely with the many other eResearch service providers, to develop new services for our researchers, and to build the capabilities of our team”

AeRO CEO Dr Markus Buchhorn is very pleased that APO is joining. “Having APO join AeRO will provide AeRO, its members and APO with many benefits. APO will be able to network more widely and strategically across the eResearch sector. Amongst other things AeRO will be able to develop a professionally curated collection of eResearch and research infrastructure papers from across the globe, to inform its members and various funding sources, of policy developments and best practices.”
